Rumah Teman-teman Tacchan
Wadah kompos, atau "rumah" itu bermacam-macam; sama seperti manusia ya? Ada yang permanen, semi permanen, ada yang terbuat dari bata, balok, bambu, dan lain-lain. Mungkin ada yang rumah panggung, ada juga yang rumahnya di atas air. Hehehe…
Aku sendiri masih pake kardus untuk Takkun (adiknya Tacchan, si Kotak Takakura). Alasannya? Karena di tempatku banyak kotak kardus bekas, dan rasanya sayang banget kalo nggak dipake (tadinya dikumpulin karena untuk simpen-simpen barang…. eeeeeh, barangnya sudah kesimpen semua kok ya kardusnya masih banyak?)
Tapi karena menggunakan kardus, jadinya rumahnya Takkun tidak permanen, alias harus sering pindahan (jadi kayak nomaden). Dan kalo pindahan ya berat! Harus diangkat, ditumplekin… Wah, wah. Cwapek! Pegel!
Nah, kalau mau mencari tempat yang lebih permanen supaya tumpukan komposmu nggak harus terus-terus migrasi dan transmigrasi, ini ada beberapa contoh "rumah permanen" dari teman-teman:
Keranjang Bambu (dari Ibu Christine)
Dulu aku pake kardus juga, tapi karena mesti beberapa kali ganti karena kebocoran dan sobek, aku jadi males pake kardus lagi, ribet. Sekarang aku pake keranjang bambu yang lubangnya kecil2. Sampah tinggal dimasukkan saja ke dalamnya, tanpa bantalan sekam. Bagian atasnya aku tutup dengan tampah bambu juga. Kalo pas dingin aku tutup dengan plastik/karung beras biar hangat. Dengan keranjang bambu ngaduknya juga lebih enak, bisa sampai ke dasar. Keranjang ini aku taruh di depan rumah, diatas saluran got. Jadi kalo ada belatung yg pengen jalan-jalan bisa langsung terjun ke got. Sayangnya, keranjang bambu ini tidak bisa dipakai selamanya karena keranjang bambu ini juga ikut dimakan sama si JR (Jasad Renik).
Keranjang Pakaian (dari Ibu Rita)
Prinsipnya wadah apa saja oke, spanjang sirkulasi udara bagus dan bisa menyantuh sampah ke timbunan kompos terdalam. Aku pake keranjang pakaian yg memiliki lubang kecil2 diseluruh bagiannya jadi gak repot lagi pake dus. Untuk bantalannya: sekam bakar yg bungkus plastik kasa/strimin biasa buat nutup jalusi jendela. Dengan begitu telor lalat yg terbawa sayuran akan terperangkap di dalamnya dan pada saat menetas lalatnya tidak bisa keluar/terbang gitu aja, tetapi terperangkap di dalam bantal itu. Kalo sudah panen kompos, bantalnya dijemur langsung di bawah matahari dan lalat akan mati.
Dinding Bata (a la Ibu Endang)
Di rumah Bu Endang, di salah satu pojok rumahnya, ada tumpukan bata yang membentuk sebuah bak (kira-kira tingginya sepinggang). Batanya nggak permanen. Jadi kalau lagi penuh, batanya bisa ditumpuk lebih tinggi, tapi kalau mau panen, batanya tinggal diangkat dan komposnya diambil; atau kalau isi baknya masih sedikit, batanya nggak usah tinggi-tinggi biar nggak cape mesti nylonjor-nylonjor ke dasar. Mengaduknya menggunakan bilah bambu yang agak panjang. Keuntungan dari dinding/bak bata ini: batanya bisa dipake berulang kali (bahkan sampe tebosen-bosen), tinggi-rendah baknya bisa diatur sesuai dengan isi. Oh iya, bak bata ini ditutup dengan triplek.
